Privacy Policy

Last updated 16 September 2026

BopStar lets you drop a song at a place on a map and see what other people have dropped around you. This policy explains what the app collects, why it needs it, and how to get rid of it. It covers both the BopStar app and the website at soundscape.blog.

What we collect

Your account. When you sign in we store your email address, the username you choose, and a profile image if you set one. Sign-in works by emailing you a six-digit code — there is no password to store.

Your location. The app asks for location only while you are using it. It is used to centre the map where you are, to show the drops nearest you, and to place a drop when you make one. BopStar does not track your location in the background and does not keep a history of where you have been.

Your drops. When you drop a song we store the song’s title, artist, album and artwork, the coordinates you dropped it at, the time, and any note you wrote.

Who you follow and what you save. The accounts you follow, the follow requests you have sent or received, and the drops you have starred.

Drops are public. A drop’s location, song and note appear on the map to everyone, along with your username and picture. Don’t drop a song somewhere you would not want people to know you were. Setting your profile to private controls who can open your profile to see your full list of drops and your followers — it does not hide individual drops from the map.

What we don’t collect

Your information is never sold, rented, or shared for anyone else’s marketing.

Services we rely on

BopStar is a small app built on a few outside services. Each one sees only what it needs:

Keeping it

Your drops stay until you delete them or delete your account. You can remove a single drop at any time from your own profile.

Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings → Manage account. Deleting your account immediately removes your profile, every drop you have made, everyone you follow and everyone following you, everything you have saved, and any stars other people left on your drops. Your sign-in record is deleted at the same time. None of it is recoverable, and there is no waiting period.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete the information BopStar holds about you. Deletion is built into the app, as above. For anything else, get in touch and we will sort it out.

Children

BopStar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top will change and the app will say so. Continuing to use BopStar after that means the new version applies.
